Information we collect

Last updated 28 October 2026.

Sceptre Accountancy (ABN 71 920 655 902) respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It can include:

  • your name, email address, phone number and postal address;
  • details about your business, such as entity names, ABN and ownership structure;
  • financial, tax and payroll records you give us so we can do the work you have engaged us for;
  • identifiers we need to act for you, such as a tax file number, which we only collect where the work requires it;
  • the messages and enquiries you send us through our website, by email or by phone; and
  • basic technical information when you visit our website, such as your browser type and the pages you view.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and arrange meetings;
  • provide accounting, tax, bookkeeping, payroll and advisory services;
  • prepare and lodge returns, statements and other documents with the Australian Taxation Office and other regulators on your behalf;
  • meet our legal and professional obligations, including identity checks, record keeping and professional standards requirements;
  • send you invoices, reminders and information about your engagement; and
  • keep our website secure and working properly.

We will not use your information for a purpose you would not reasonably expect, and we do not sell personal information.

Online bookings

When you book a meeting through our website, we use Microsoft Bookings, part of Microsoft 365, to manage the appointment. We collect your name, email address, phone number, and any comments or answers you provide, and use them to schedule the meeting, send confirmations and reminders, and set up a Microsoft Teams link where needed. Microsoft processes this information on our behalf under its privacy and data protection terms, and it may be stored in Australia or overseas. We do not ask for your tax file number, date of birth or financial details through the booking form. Please do not include them in the comments field.

Disclosure and storage

We share personal information only where it is needed to do the work or where the law requires it. Depending on your engagement, that can include:

  • the Australian Taxation Office, the Tax Practitioners Board, ASIC and other government bodies;
  • software and service providers we use to deliver our services, such as cloud accounting, payroll, document, email, website hosting and spam protection providers;
  • your other advisers, such as a lawyer, financial planner or bank, where you ask us to deal with them; and
  • our professional bodies, insurers and auditors, where required for our professional obligations.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to work properly, remember your preferences and keep forms secure. We may also use analytics tools to understand how the site is used, in a way that does not identify you personally. You can change your browser settings to block or delete cookies, although some parts of the site may not work as well.

Security and how long we keep information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including secure systems, access controls and confidentiality obligations for our people. We keep client records for the periods required by tax, corporate and professional standards law (generally at least five to seven years), then securely destroy or de-identify them.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days, and we may need to confirm your identity first.

If you have a complaint about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
